This is a letter she wrote to express the freedom she experienced with the UbiDuo.
Go UbiDuo Go
A greatly enjoyable experience for me was to use UbiDuo. I want to share with you this inspiring experience in using the UbiDuo. At the moment my boyfriend and I went to my cell store for buying a cell phone for my son. At first I felt uncomfortable to start introducing UbiDuo to a salesperson but I was so surprised there was a smooth transition. Both of us sat down and made an uninterrupted conversation about buying the cell phone than waiting our turns to write on paper. I like the best part that UbiDuo have the two-way communication on same time than pulling the paper away from the salesperson as same time as it was my turn or interruption.
I realized that it was so easy to make some conversation. I had more tolerance of in-depth conversation with the salesperson than writing forth and back with paper and pen. I noticed that my frustration became disappeared. I was so surprised at myself that I spent more than 45 minutes to stay and talk with the salesperson. I was used to finish writing within five minutes or tended to walk away with no patience.
While my boyfriend and the salesperson at other cell store were making some discussion on UbiDuo, a friendly and curiosity customer came toward us. She thought that there were some displays on the counter where the boyfriend and the salesperson were typing. I explained her that this was called UbiDuo and this technique was better than having “paper and pen”. She commented that it was really cool.
I felt like being a happy cheerleader after this experience. I feel blessed that I have UbiDuo than spending a time in dreaming about having a sign language interpreter on 24/7. So I am looking forward to going on a bright journey with carrying UbiDuo along. Go UbiDuo Go!
1) How do you feel after using the UbiDuo to communicate freely with hearing people in professional or social settings?
I feel that I am taking place in broad daylight into UbiDuo world as reminded of Dorothy from Wizard of Oz where her house crashed into a magicland from tornado and can see a colorful account of communicating with hearing people in my future. Before UbiDuo introduced me, I tended to talk with hearing people like writing few words with lack of open-mindedness. Now I feel much different as having a great sense of confidence in my willingness to tolerate communicating more with the hearing person.
2) What is your all time favorite UbiDuo experience?
There was a new beginning experience for me during recent Easter Day. I visited my boyfriend’s family for Easter dinner. I introduced this UbiDuo to a few of his family members. I felt good that I got acquainted more about my boyfriend’s childhood from his brother. After that I explained his father about my background. He told me that his wife came from Dairyland so he encouraged me to talk with her. So I talked with her. During the conversation there was a real small world that his stepmother and I came from Wisconsin even we were raised in the range of county even her grandparents and my great grandparents were buried in the same cemetery in the same town. We talked so comfortable because both of us knew Wisconsin very well so we discussed about good places to go in Wisconsin. After that, I enjoyed talking with his family members.
3) What are your thoughts and emotions as you are able to hold your own conversations on the UbiDuo?
I want to share with you this inspiring experience in using the UbiDuo. At the beginning I went to my cell store for buying a cell phone for my son. 4) What situations have you used the UbiDuo in such as meetings or social functions?
Since I have used the UbiDuo in Social Sercurity Administration, cellular phone store, meeting with sComm employees, and socializing with family members included friends and others.
5) What other comments would you want to share with the public about the UbiDuo?
It would save your time than finding a paper and pen. It would be difficult to read some writin cursive. It would be more easily accessibility than either depending on interpreters when they are not available, or preferring using American Sign Language while others don’t have their ASL skills. It is easy to be immersed in communicating as same time as reading facial expressions.
In bottom of my heart I realized that the UbiDuo is a big hit of interacting and communicating on a same time in my life.
